Bible Basics About Heaven

God has prepared a place in heaven for us.  John 14:1-3

This truth is meant to comfort us (vs. 1)
This truth is only for those who believe in Christ as their Savior (vs. 1, 6)
This truth means we have a home waiting for us (vs. 2)
This truth means Christ is anticipating and working for our arrival (vs. 2)
This truth means God wants us with Him and has a special “welcome home” party planned (vs. 3)

God is preparing us for a place in heaven.  Hebrews 10:12-17

Christ has perfected us forever (vs. 14)
Christ has sanctified us (vs. 14)
The Holy Ghost is a witness to us (vs. 15)
We have a covenant relationship with God (vs. 16)
Our sins will never separate us from God (vs. 17)

You must be born again.  John 3:1-7

It is called “a new spirit within you” in Ezekiel 11:19
It is called “a new heart” and “a new spirit” in Ezekiel 36:26
It is called “be converted” in Acts 3:19
It is called “alive unto God” in Romans 6:11
It is called “alive from the dead” in Romans 6:13

A mighty inward change of heart needs to occur in us because our human nature is so entirely corrupt, diseased, ruined, and unfit for heaven because of the fall.

An amazing transaction needs to occur in us where the penalty of eternal destruction we owe our holy and righteous God for the sins and rebellion we have committed against Him is paid by another person who has already suffered for us, as our substitute, in our place.

Your name must be written in heaven.  Luke 10:20
Your name must be written in the Book of Life.  Luke 20:15

You need a robe of righteousness to enter and live in heaven.  Isaiah 61:10
You need a robe of fine linen to enter and live in heaven.  Rev. 19:8

An inheritance is reserved in heaven for us.  I Peter 1:3-5; II Timoty 4:8
An appraisal of our service to Christ is waiting for us in heaven.  I Cor. 3:10-15
An indescribable place of beauty and blessing will be ours in heaven.  I Cor. 2:9; Rev. 21:4-5
An eternal existence with God will be ours in heaven.  Rev. 21:3
